eating challenges and eating contests

Well Hi!

We are preparing to come back bigger and better than ever!

Hopefully the shitfucks who frequent eatfeats.com will stay away. We made the mistake of publicizing this site on that site. Not this time, we promise you that! Many of those people get their kicks by talking all kinds of shit but they are scared to actually try to compete. Screw them!

To the people who want to compete against others, have fun, and win some money:

Welcome back! Welcome home! We'll see you in just a little while!

#3 - Important News

One day to go!

We have been informed from competitors that they have completed the Throwdown but have not uploaded their video because in previous Throwdowns the feeling has been, and we shared it too, that more competitors were participating but did not upload their videos because the competitors who were posting their videos early in the contest duration were beating other competitors who had not uploaded their video. So the thinking was "why upload if I have been beaten".

Whatever course you wish to take is up to you, but as long as you sign up, and your email is received, before the competition ends as specified in the announcement then you are OK.

Good luck!

Throwdown #3: McDonald's

The Throwdown is to see which competitor can eat 3 Dollar Menu items the fastest. You must eat (in this order):

1) Double Cheeseburger
2) Chicken McNuggets (6 piece)
3) Strawberry Sundae (see below - substitution allowed)

1. If you have not registered to be a member of this website, you must do that first.
2. You must sign up for this challenge and submit your video by 11PM on February 10, 2007.
3. As always, your participation and submitted video must comply to these rules.

Important: Additional Rules.
a. You can unwrap the Double Cheeseburger before starting the timer. The McNuggets have to remain in the container before eating them. You can remove the top from the Strawberry Sundae before starting the timer.
b. You may substitute a Hot Fudge Sundae or a Hot Caramel Sundae for the Strawberry if you want to do so.
c. You can eat each item however you wish. The burger can be dunked if you want. The only specific eating rule in place is that the Strawberry Sundae must be eaten with a spoon.
d. The timer does not stop until you have consumed all 3 items and your mouth is clear. When you are done simply hold out your hands and open your mouth.

This Throwdown is definitely a sprint. We expect the competition to be fierce! Be safe!

Keep watching this site for entrants and results. They are updated and posted as they are received.

THV Video for TD #2

Mark Lyle "The Human Vacuum" has submitted his video for Throwdown #2. He gives a shout out to Carp Meister, and then Mark swallows the 10 Twinkies! Congratulations, Mark!

Mark Lyle, 1:16.84. Click here to view the video

It is now 10:56pm so there are only 4 minutes left in which competitors can inform us of their entry. It looks like The Human Vacuum will take this Throwdown to go 2 for 2! That's awesome!

Throwdown #2 - New Video

The Masked Muncher has submitted his video for Throwdown #2. Two judges viewed and timed the video because the Masked Muncher's time is very close to the time of the competitor currently in 1st place, Kevin Ross. In the end though the Masked Muncher is close but he does not take over the top spot.

In other news, we did receive another video from Carp Meister, but there were technical problems with the version posted to YouTube. As of now the technical problems have not been resolved so his first video is still his official entry in Throwdown #2.

Video News

The TYCC office has been informed that Carp Meister has submitted another Twinkie video! A judge will review the video, and post the result later today.

We also received an email from the Masked Muncher. First, his local supermarket was out of Twinkies. We didn't know that could happen! Then, his video camera battery died and he had to find a new one. But now he has the Twinkies and the battery so he is set to go.

Throwdown #2: Twinkies

The Throwdown is to see which competitor can eat 10 Hostess Twinkies the fastest. You can buy a 15-ounce box of 10, or you may buy 10 individually wrapped Twinkies.

1. If you have not registered to be a member of this website, you must do that first.
2. You must sign up for this challenge and submit your video by 11PM on January 25, 2007.
3. As always, your participation and submitted video must comply to these rules.

Important: Additional Rules.
a. While the camera is recording a competitor must unwrap all 10 of their Twinkies before starting the timer and beginning to eat. We have to be able to verify you are eating 10 unmodified Twinkies.
b. The Twinkies may not be exposed to any liquid before each Twinkie goes into the competitor's mouth. This means no dunking and no pouring liquid on the Twinkies before you eat them.
c. The Twinkies may not be dismantled or mashed in any way before putting them into your mouth.
d. You must put the Twinkies in your mouth one at a time. A Twinkie must be completely in your mouth before beginning to put the next Twinkie in your mouth.
e. The timer does not stop until you have consumed all 10 Twinkies and your mouth is clear. When you are done simply hold out your hands and open your mouth.

This Throwdown is a sprint. We expect the competition to be fierce! Be safe!

Keep watching this site for entrants and results. They are updated and posted as they are received.

The Human Vacuum Does It!

The winner of Throwdown #1, Mark Lyle, did another run with the Taco Bell soft tacos. This time he dunked the soft tacos before consuming them. His "dry run" time of 4:23 that he submitted for the Throwdown -- yeah he shattered that in the "wet run". Just over 2 minutes! You can watch the video here.

Way to go, Mark!

Another change we will make is to the Throwdown announcements. From now on a specification that will be made is if the Throwdown item can be dunked or not. The decision will primarily be based on whether the item could lose structural integrity or not.

Signup Requirement Changed

We are removing the requirement to signup for a Throwdown within the first 5 days of a Throwdown being announced. What that means for you is that you can signup and submit your video at any time within the 10-day* Throwdown duration. That way if you miss the announcement by a few days you can think about entering the Throwdown without needing to factor in signup deadlines.

Keep in mind that Throwdowns are announced on the 1st and 15th days of each month. A Throwdown lasts for 10 days from the announcement being posted unless another duration is specified in the announcement posting.

Thanks, guys!

Remember, Throwdown #2 will be announced on this website on January 15th!

Another Takes on Throwdown #1

We have received an email from another competitor in Throwdown #1. Mark Lyle "The Human Vacuum" tore through the tacos! His time of 4:23 almost halved the time put up by the Masked Muncher. I will post the full results later tonight. Until then you can view Mark's video here.

Good show, Mark!

Throwdown #1 Extended!

The deadline for posting your video for Throwdown #1 has been extended 24 hours. The deadline is now 11PM on January 11, 2007. The response to Throwdown #1 was less-than-anticipated so we have extended the deadline so the other video can be posted. The competitor posting his video on the 11th did contact Team TYCC before the original deadline.

Also, we have received some more feedback so we will be implementing the suggestions before Throwdown #2 which will be announced on January 15th.

Update on Throwdown #1

You have just over 24 hours to submit your video for Throwdown #1! The cut-off is tomorrow at 11pm, so get on it! Right now the Masked Muncher is still in the lead.

Another Video for Throwdown #1

The Masked Muncher has throwndown again in hopes of beating his time from his previous attempt. He did beat his last time. Just barely. But he did better his time.

The judge who viewed the video reports that it appears as if the Masked Muncher could have posted a better time (by almost a minute) but he does a very thorough job in cleaning up anything that fell off while eating. As of now here is the time to beat:

Masked Muncher, 8:05:70. Click here to view the video

There is still some time to register and get your video posted. That is if you thinkyoucancompete.

Boy Some People Are Touchy!

Last night thinkyoucancompete.com was noticed by eatfeats.com (a competitive eating news blog, database and calendar). That is great! We appreciate that very much. We thanked the moderator, ojrifkin. Maybe some additional exposure. We thought that would be that.

But we checked eatfeats.com again this evening and some people who commented about us were ripping us a new one! Man, I guess they feel threatened! Cool!

Our preview video #2 did contain images of some professional eaters. We have corrected that and replaced the video with the new one that does not contain such images.

So You Think You Can Compete?

Update on 12/21: We have posted a new video which is a short tutorial showing how easy it is to get started with us! Click here to watch the video.

Update on 12/16: We have received some feedback (you know who you are - thanks!). We love the ideas and have posted new articles so we can make this site better for you!

Thank you for stopping by! Please read through all the information that you will find below. It details who we are, what we are doing, and why!

We need everybody to really get the buzz going so every challenge is huge so you all can have the most fun possible! So tell your friends about us so you can compete against them and the whole world!

If you have any questions then leave comments or send us an email. We want this site to be the best eating challenge site out there! With your help it can be!

Our official launch is not until January 1, 2007. For the next few weeks we want everyone to get excited about this so we can hit the ground running!

UPDATE - Here are links to our promotional videos on YouTube:
#1 : intro to thinkyoucancompete
#2 : here comes thinkyoucancompete

Hi Everyone!

Some people have contacted us with their thoughts and also they have some great ideas for what they'd like to see. We're definitely open to any ideas to make this site run the way you want. We can't do this without you!

We are primarily doing this because we know a lot of people out there want to participate in eating contests but cannot spend the money required to compete in events that the two big competitive eating leagues hold. You have to go to them. And there are usually only a handful of competitors to stack yourself up against.

But we aim to take care of both issues! You can be anywhere to participate with us! If you're at home, on vacation, or traveling you can check the website and get involved! And when you compete with us you are taking on the world since anyone anywhere can enter! Also, our rankings are up-to-the-minute and based on competitor's performances in challenges.

The videos you submit are very easy to film, convert to your computer, and upload to YouTube or Google Video or any other video sharing service. We are putting together a tutorial that reviews the process for finding, filming, and submitting challenges. You will see that the process is quick and simple so you do not worry about the HOWS and you can have FUN!

We're always open to suggestions for challenges. The specifics for each challenge will be pretty standard so anyone can do them and their performance can pretty much be equal to other competitors. The first three challenges are going to involve Taco Bell, Wendy's, and McDonald's. You can see where we are heading: these 3 restaurants are all about delivering identical foods to every customer. A quarter pounder at a McDonald's in New York is pretty much the same as a quarter pounder at a McDonald's in Tokyo.

More later. Thanks for reading!

Welcome!

Just like you we love participating in eating challenges. Be it at a fast-food spot (ie. who can eat the most "whatever" or who can eat something the fastest) or just among friends at home. It's about saying you're the best at something. It's about pushing your body to do something. It's about having fun. But food challenges are not much fun if you have to do it alone. There's nobody with whom to share the fun and compete against. But now you can compete against people all over the world! Enjoy big time fun and maybe make some money!

The concept is simple! A challenge is posted on this web site. Once you sign up for the challenge you have a week or so to complete the chalenge and submit materials to document your performance in the challenge. We organize and track all the results and determine winners for each challenge. Additionally, for every challenge you can be awarded points based on your results. These points go toward determining the winner of the season-long overall championship. The overall championship is just like the NASCAR series winner or the skiing world cup overall winner. The series winner is usually very versatile. They may or may not win challenges but they do well in very different disciplines which allows them to win points in many events.

To participate, you must register your account first. Once you have done so you can sign up for a challenge when it is announced. You complete the challenge, submit the video, and see how you stack up against other competitors. It's that easy!

There are a couple of competitive eating leagues out there today, but to compete in their events it is necessary for you to travel to the events. And their events are singular events. There is no championship series or cumulative totals which determine an overall winner. We make it so that anyone anywhere can participate! No travel time and expense is necessary. There is an overall winner. So join and participate!
